This session was special in many ways; it was the first after Hurricane Ida, the first in Houston, it was shot indoors with natural lighting - and it was with Kyle and Drew! Our amazing client friends from Houston, TX are how we ended up at Glassell School of Art’s sophisticated setting. The chemistry we have with these two is unique; from documenting the proposal to second line photos at their wedding, we’ve been there, and they were as excited to see us as we were to shoot with them! Not having to focus any energy getting the subject to be comfortable with us, we were really able to channel our creative flow in new ways. Being an outdoor photographer I see beautiful scenes all the time, but something about the complex sophistication in the depth of its design felt - simple.

Mommy And Me Mini Session Ideas | Paint Photoshoot
The paint mommy and me session is a very versatile concept that’s just as entertaining as it is artistic! It’s perfect for very active kids who love to be hands on and it can be done to fit any selection of colors so it’s very inclusive as well!
For this session I wanted the clients to wear all white on a white backdrop so that they too will serve as an extension of it and allow the paint to really pop in the photos!

Last year I documented Aniya’s mom maternity portraits and this year I got the opportunity to meet Aniya for her first birthday portraits.
Having full creative control of the shoot, I was able to put together some new ideas with colors that I love. The idea for the session was for her to simply be painting for her birthday photo shoot and have fall colored paint all over her outfit to coordinate with the scene. I decided to do the smash cake before she painted the #1 on her BOHO canvas. The smash cake idea was perfect so that she would have an energy boost right before painting. I was able to find everything that I needed in Hobby Lobby.
